London wine broker Fine+Rare has launched a new web tool allowing the public to value their wine portfolios at the click of a button.
Visitors to Fine+Rare will be able to enter their wines on the site and receive an instant valuation, with the option to sell cases via the broker for a fee of 10%-15%
Marketing director Simon Davies told decanter.com, ‘This is the first time we have migrated our valuations to the internet so people can do it themselves. We wanted it to be accessible to all and provide instant access.
‘We are not offering a live trade but we have prices from thousands of wines so they can value a whole collection not just a blue chip portfolio.’
Davies claims the site will differ from independent merchants’ trading sites as it has a dedicated team aggregating fine wine prices of many traders around the world.
The company hopes to offer full portfolio management online in the future.
