Luis Sottomayor, judge on the DWWA Portugal panel in 2010

Luis Sottomayor has worked in several wine regions before entering the Port wine business in 1989. Today, he is responsible for the Douro operation of Sogrape (Port and Douro wines), leading a team of winemakers, tasters and cellar workers, as well as supervising the company wineries in the Douro region. Born and raised in Portugal, he studied at the University of Charles Sturt (Australia) and the Université de Bourgogne (France) and holds a Post-Graduation in Oenology by Escola Superior de Biotecnologia do Porto (Portugal). Sottomayor has also been a member of the Eaux-de-vie committee of the Douro and Porto Wines Institute (IVDP) since 2000. In his free time, he enjoys horseback riding and hunting, as well as football.
