In a sign of the continuing confidence of English wine, Nyetimber has appointed former Heidsieck communications director Christian Holthausen to run its marketing.
‘Grande marque’: Nyetimber
Nyetimber in Sussex is one of England’s highest-profile sparkling wine producers.
Along with Ridge View, Chapel Down and Camel Valley, it is one of the best-known of the top league of English wine producers. Frequently served up at royal events, it was chosen for the Queen’s barge during the Diamond Jubilee pageant this summer.
The estate now has 162ha (400 acres) under vine, planted to the Champagne varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
As marketing and communications manager, Holthausen will head a team consisting of a brand manager and two marketing assistants.
CEO Eric Heerema said, ‘Christian brings with him a wealth of knowledge and we are delighted that he shares our belief that we create wines of a Grande Marque standard.

‘The creation of this new role is consistent with our strategy to continue to build an outstanding team and expand Nyetimber’s recognition for quality in the UK and abroad.’
