A South African company has created a world first with a range of organic fruit flavoured 'vine-therapy' ice creams.
Instead of opting for the more traditional vanilla, strawberry or chocolate flavours, the Renewal Centre is offering a scoop of ‘Chardonnay Grape with Fig & Honey – Reserve 2004’ or ‘Blackberry & Cherry Pinotage Limited Edition 2004’ ice cream.
Made in collaboration with ice cream emporium Sinnfull, this new range of desserts is said not only to be delicious but also boasts the beneficial health effects associated with high levels of grape seed polyphenols – potent anti-oxidants – believed to be effective in combating both the internal and external aging effects of free radicals in the body that contribute to wrinkles, arthritis, and vision and memory loss.
Renewal Centre, managing director Tony McKeever told decanter.com, “Now one can eat ice cream and look younger at the same time!’
“The Vinetherapy ice creams are also immune boosters because of the Pinotage grape seed extract which is extremely high in anti-oxidants.
“Some of the biologically active flavonoids found in red grape seeds possess up to 20 to 50 times more antioxidant activity than vitamins C and E,” he added.
Mr McKeever said that he has already received interest in marketing the range in the USA and is currently looking for distributors in Europe and Australasia.
