Winemaker Francis Lamblin says nothing has been agreed with French football giants Paris Saint-Germain on personalised wine labels for its football stars, such as David Beckham.
Francis Lamblin says he has approached the football club with a plan to produce personalised wine labels for some of its biggest stars, but nothing has been agreed.
Several media reports in the past week have stated that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is closing on a deal to produce personalised wines for some of its footballers, including new signing David Beckham.
Côtes de Bourg winemaker Francis Lamblin, of Chateau Lamblin, told Decanter.com that he approached PSG with the idea of personalised wine boxes and labels in January.
He has yet to hear back on the idea. ‘It remains just a project, nothing has been decided,’ he said.
Beckham had not been signed when he first proposed the plan to PSG. ‘That said, I am open to anything and if Mr Beckham would like me to create a special wine box, I am at his disposal.’
Lamblin said that he has also approached a number of other top European football clubs with a similar idea. He said personalised wines can be a hit with hardcore fans, ‘as proved by the feedback on the subject this past week’. He has had feedback from US, China and Japan ‘to name a few’, he added.
