If you haven't tried Gewurztraminer before, you're in for a surprise – it's an assault on the senses, for sure! But an enjoyable one, in the case of this exuberant bottling made by a respected estate in Alsace, from old vines. It's medium sweet, but never cloying, and is bursting with a mélange of ripe, apricot and tropical fruit, spice and Turkish delight. Fleshy and honeyed, it's an opulent style that would be a great match for chicken liver paté on toasts, or a mildly spiced dish cooked with coconut milk. Rounded, juicy and warming.
