The word 'Appassimento' on the label here is a clue to what's inside. In this winemaking method, Primitivo grapes are partially dried to concentrate the colour, aromas and flavours. This is fleshy, jammy and sweetly fruited – lots of dark, rich plummy and blackberry fruit flavours, with notes of cocoa and spice. Good value everyday drinking, and very easy to enjoy in front of the TV with a pizza.
