Utiel-Requena wine region
Content produced in partnership with the DO Utiel-Requena
Utiel-Requena is a relative newcomer, both to wine lists and to wine shelves, but winemaking has been taking place in the region as far back as the 7th century BC.
Its indigenous grape variety is the Bobal grape, which accounts for 70% of plantings, but permitted grapes include international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
