Bernard Magrez, head of Bordeaux-based négociant William Pitters, has acquired a new Cru Bourgeois to add to the growing list of châteaux under his name.
The deal to buy Château la Tour Blanche, in the Médoc commune of Saint-Christoly, was finalised earlier this week. How much was paid for the 39ha property was not disclosed.
Magrez has only just acquired the Domaine de la Magnanerie, a 22ha property in the southern French wine region of Saint-Chinian.
The Tour Blanche property extends the list of well-rated châteaux owned by William Pitters which include top Graves Cru Classé Pape-Clément and two Grand Cru châteaux – Fombrauge and La Tour Carnet, in Saint-Emilion and the Médoc respectively.
