Zachys is expanding the reach of its commercial auctions with sales in Las Vegas and San Francisco.
On 8 February it will kick off its first sale in Las Vegas, and on 29 February it holds its San Francisco inaugural.
Until now, its auctions have taken place in New York City and, together with Wally’s Wines and Spirits, in Los Angeles.
The Las Vegas sale, involving 376 lots, will take place at Alex, a restaurant in the luxurious Wynn hotel. The sale will benefit the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, which specialises in memory disorders.
In California, 300 Burgundy lots will be offered at restaurant Michael Mina, named for its celebrity chef owner. This sale is part of Daniel Johnnes’s La Paulée de San Francisco.
The Paulée de Meursault is the annual post-harvest celebration in Burgundy – and the San Francisco version, which takes place March 1 at the Westin St Francis Hotel, is in honour of that.
Zachys, a sponsor of Johnnes’s Paulée, holds Manhattan auctions at Daniel, where Johnnes is restaurateur Daniel Boulud’s wine director.
