Ruby-red with garnet flecks, the rich nose offers balsamic hints, ripe red fruit and touches of leather, ash and flesh. The 18 months in oak added a toasted quality that persists on the palate, where the structure is provided by slightly astringent tannins before the long finish. Made with equal proportions of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, Caro 2003 is a potent Mendoza red with a mature, concentrated character.
