Coming from Uco Valley, which has fast become the source of many of Argentina’s top Chardonnays, the Golden Reserve demonstrates thoughtful oak handling. Some 60% of the wine is aged in barrel, 30% in concrete and the remaining 10% in neutral, fifth-use 600-litre barrels. Golden Reserve has been a staple of Trivento’s mid-range portfolio since its debut in 2000, and it is a range that winemaker Germán Di Cesare has continued to hone since joining the winery in 2002. Amanda Barnes MW: Intense nose of Meyer lemon, white peach and baking spices with a broad, textured palate and crisp acidity. Real complexity at the price point, with volume and brightness. Eugenio Egorov: Fresh and precise. Notes of lemon tart, orange blossom and golden apple skin with a touch of vanilla. Linear and fresh. Ben Gubbins: Good balance of ripe citrus – lemon curd, grapefruit – touches of stone fruit and subtle oak. Citrus skin and stone fruits on the palate, good length.
