A new release from the Avinea group (also behind Argento and Otronia), Viña Artesano is an exciting and innovative project that has been more than a decade in the making. The winemaking team spent years seeking the ideal terroir for Chardonnay, eventually selecting a special parcel in Gualtallary Alto, at 1,450m, where rocky, poor soils are surrounded by wild flowers and native flora – including nassella (needlegrass), which gives the wine its name. Viña Artesano is set to launch in the UK in October 2025. Amanda Barnes MW: Gunflint and lemon zest with some talc on the finish. Wonderful tension and purity; still so youthful. Florencia Gomez: Modern, pristine style, vibrant green pineapple and lime peel, a lovely mouthwatering finish. Easy to drink and fun. Benjamin Gubbins: Lime leaf, wet stones. Palate has depth and concentration, full but not heavy, with a refreshing pithy, mineral edge.
