Lots of unexpected facets to this Malbec (with a pinch of Petit Verdot), with complementary layers of dense, luscious black fruit, roasted peppers, sundried tomatoes, bayleaf and basil. Intense liquorice and juniper provide a characterful, vivid background and line the round, warming tannins. Felipe José Menéndez Arguelles started his career as winemaker under Nicolas Catena but was itching to make wine in Patagonia, where his ancestors settled in the 1880s.
