The Pucará sub-region which gives this wine its name is a remote outpost in the Calchaquí Valley, set at 2,380m. Malbecs made here tend to display a potent rusticity as exemplified by this daring offering from Raúl Dávalos. Fermented in concrete eggs, it presents aromas of curry, lavender and balsamic herbs that blend well with the ripe, dark, fleshy fruit flavours. Opulent with a delightfully unctuous feel. The intense tannins are balanced by the freshness.
