While Brokenwood has sourced its best Semillon from this site for the past three decades, this is the first single vineyard release from the Oakey Creek Vineyard since the winery purchased the property in 2021. This release, from the low-yielding 2024 vintage and issued after 21 months in bottle, is designed to capture the freshness of lemongrass, lime and orange blossom, propelled by the electric zing of zesty acid. To understand how this wine will age in bottle, compare it with Brokenwood’s IRL Reserve Semillon, which also uses Oakey Creek fruit but stores it for six years in bottle before release, adding sophisticated notes of toasted brioche bun, lush lemon curd and honeysuckle.
