Black Flag is a collaboration between winemaker Steve Grimley and Virgin Wines head wine buyer Andrew Baker, aiming to produce handcrafted wines. The production of their Clare Valley Riesling is small, with a focus on quality. Justin Knock MW: Fat, dry textured lemons, good mid-palate. Pithy and salty finish. Pretty good. Roger Jones: Fresh, clean, citrus curd, creamy and delicate in the same mouthfeel. Oozing freshness and bright, white stone fruit, a hint of mandarin; soft herbaceous background, some hidden toasted brioche and lime marmalade. Julia Sewell: Somehow seems quite tropical; pina colada? A slight development has really emphasised a creamier side to the wine, with just a hint of green pineapple. Chewy, chalky, textured, rocky. A cacophony of flavour and texture that settles out to a focused, lime-peel finish.
