Massive purple colour and a massive full berry entry to the palate; such an overt whole bunch fermentation approach suggests mono-dimensional simplicity, but this is where modern Barossa surprises. Old-vine intensity provides a solid black-fruited foundation beneath the sweet confection up front. It’s an interesting wrestle, but then stops abruptly, leaving a flat, rather saline final note. It seems like an idea in motion, worth investigating in future vintages.
