Clos Clare is a dynamic and enthusiastic family-run boutique winery led by Tom and Sam Barry, third generation of the famous winemaking dynasty. Riesling, being the signature grape of Clare Valley, is their only white in which they put all their winemaking efforts to achieve a genuine expression of the typicity of the region. The grapes are sourced from a patch close to the historic Florita vineyard in Watervale. Justin Knock MW: Super-smart, tonic water and dried seaweed with powdered lemon salt and lime juice freshness. Wonderful. Roger Jones: Bright acidity, focused, flinty stone mineral, precise stone fruit, lots happening in the glass. Complex and not quite at ease as yet, but this will go on to age beautifully. Julia Sewell: Juicy and quietly expressive; mojito and the slightest hint of camomile tea. Palate shows the same restrained power; an appealingly numbing quality; citrussy and sancho pepper-like in character. Vibrant, refreshing.
