Unashamedly embracing the darkness, this is a mean fist of Cabernet Sauvignon. There’s bay leaf among a big bowl of intense black berries, with a hint of soot among a dusky whiff of green leaf, bramble and redcurrant. There’s black olive tapenade savouriness in its firm palate and grip at the finish due to serious ripe tannins. At this stage, its potential is only a suggestion, not an embrace. Too guarded to reveal its vulnerability, it will need a decade in the cellar to bloom.
