A fine year with good winter rainfall, ideal flowering and a warm, dry summer. Taffeta tannins elegantly tease out sweet dried plum and raspberry conserve, threaded with black pepper, iodine, tinder box and mulchier leaf notes. A bricky rim and a whisper of bouillon powder on both the nose and the finish suggest this should be drunk soon; indeed, it's lovely now. Aged in 55% French and 45% American oak hogsheads, 40% new.
