The third iteration of this Bin wine, which will always be mainly Barossa Valley – including some vines planted in the 1930s – this year supported by McLaren Vale. It’s ripe and juicy but the 10 months in both French oak (17% new) and American oak hogsheads has given it a solid bite of toasty oak that currently jars a bit, masking what could be delicate fruit. The sappy red berries, exotic spices and potpourri are there, but overpowered by vanilla and butterscotch sweetness. Not available in Europe; released at AU$60
