This fourth vintage of Bin 21 Grenache is made with grapes from heritage vines in Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Aged for 10 months in French oak hogsheads (28% new), it's built for the long haul – as you'd expect from Penfolds – rather than capturing the fine-boned freshness of top new-wave Aussie Grenaches. But the oak is well integrated and there's still plenty of sunny cherry and plum fruit, with fragrant aromas and baking spices that become a touch savoury, with the palate finishing crisp and fresh. Not available in Europe.
