Designed as a 'super-Barossa' expression by sourcing fruit from across the region, this makes a powerful and exuberant Shiraz statement without overstepping its mark. Sweet, luscious and seductive in its plush entry, it captures the vitality of lush purple fruit and more – mulberries, fig, blackcurrants and a squeeze of cranberries. Matured in French oak, as a contrast to Penfolds’ elite sibling Grange being matured in American oak, it squeezes tight in the back-palate. While the harsh tannic finish is currently too abrupt, it stands as an insurance investment to sustain at least two decades in the cellar.
