This water-saving grape is Ricca Terra's flagship variety. The nose is dense and a little closed now – understandable given its youth. But on the palate it's a poised, medium-bodied wine with complexity, length and energy. Red fruits, cured meats, dried herbs are all held in balance by firm, defined tannins and a ribbon of salinity. This is a wine that sings of its home: warm days, cool nights, red dirt, blue skies and early morning magpie warbles. Hand-pruned and hand-picked from a single vineyard, fermented with 10% whole bunch fruit and aged for six months in old oak.
