This complex, detailed and very persistent multi-clonal Viognier was wild-fermented and aged on lees for 10 months in mature French oak, with regular batonnage. A restrained, flintily reductive nose with a lick of toast and spice sets the tone. Chalky phenolics and green tomato bring freshness and texture, keeping the varietal checklist of waxy apricot, perfumed lychee and incipient honey at bay. A tantalising presence foreshadows the opulence to come.
