The wine's opaque purple colour belies its aromatic elegance and restraint. Lifted aromas of rasperry, violet, cocoa powder, dried oregano, chocolate, warm pepper spice and subtle tar. It's dark and brooding, but at the same time lifted and restrained. The palate is open and soft, awash with plush, vibrant fruit and spice akin to the nose; framed by fine cocoa-laced tannins to a gentle and long, balanced close. Elegance and poise here – not words I'd thought would apply when tasting a young Durif.
