Once spurned for lacking 'typical' Australian Shiraz power, Bin No 1 Shiraz is now heralded as an elegant, cool-climate exemplar: svelte, rich in floral perfume and tantalisingly spicy. Made with grapes from Best’s Concongella Vineyard (including plantings from 1866) and from several other neighbouring growers, this Shiraz combines summer berries, ripe plums, a shake of black pepper and crushed mint on a lean, athletic frame. Its poise and assurance marks a superb result from a testing low-yield vintage. Exceptional value at AU$25.
