The 1.36ha Woori Yallock vineyard was planted in 1995, and Mac Forbes has leased it since 2012. The 2016 vintage was challenging, but has produced an edgy, ageworthy wine that is linear and savoury in style. Tart red fruit is joined by a balsamic, anise edge and a lovely sappy note from 10% whole bunch fermentation. Made with minimal intervention, it's matured for 12 months in old oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
