Sourced from a northeast-facing site in Merricks planted in 1988 at 55m on deep red basalt, where the vines produce very small bunches for great depth of flavour and frame. This is long and plush, with a very even delivery of sweet, succulent red cherry, earthy raspberry and fleshy plum, with pronounced liquorice and subtler charcuterie nuances. Wet-clay tannins lend impetus and weight to this brooding wine. 

Picked on 15 and 27 March. Just 22 cases made.
