Quiet power on the nose. Give this time to open up, as there's plenty hiding beneath a rather shy facade. Tones of lemongrass, citrus pith and light toasty oak. On the palate, the oak shows, but it doesn't overshadow the wine. Acidity is racy and nervy, but not pushy, rather fine and svelte, with layered phenolics that hold on. A crystalline intensity to the fruit, florals and prettiness lingering, coated in sea salt, silvery and glossy. Opulent, yet tucked in and measured. Stunning. From a mix of 3, 5, 95 and Gingin clones. Wild ferment, matured for 11 months in puncheons/barriques, plus 11 months in tank; no malolactic fermentation.
