This is a longstanding, benchmark Frankland River Syrah. Deep, intense aromas of brambles and cool granite freshly kissed by rain. Dark fruits emerge – blueberries, dark and damson plums, a Black Forest gateau. The mossy forest floor and cypress perfume adds a thoughtful and focused allure. Fruit concentration and intensity are striking, accompanied by fine, melt-in-your-mouth chocolatey tannins and an acidity that subtly guides the way. A delicate spice note of incense pervades, evoking the essence of Australian dusk, with its bushy scents, settling into a serene evening calm. Structured, intense and enduringly long. Plenty of potential and truly lovely. 94% Syrah, 4% Viognier and 2% Mourvèdre. 20% whole bunch. Matured for 14 months in 3,500-litre foudre and a few additional 500-litre puncheons. Organic.
