So much prettiness on the nose; bright and fine but a little reserved in its youth. Rose petals, thyme blossom, red- and purple-berried fruit, a glow of spring mornings, wild strawberry, vanilla toast and pencil shaving graphite threading throughout. The palate flows through with crushed graphite and inky bloodiness on an oak-paved pathway. A long mineral thread and lacy acidity, fine tannins. Florals and fruit dance the line between pretty and elegant, serious and structured for the long haul. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 10 rows of a single vineyard in Wilyabrup planted with Houghton clones. Whole berries spent 40 days on skins in 100% new oak puncheons, then basket pressed and returned to the same puncheons for 18 months.
