Vibrant and savoury on the nose, with salted red plum, sundried tomato skin, hibiscus flower, salt spray and cooling winter eucalypt. The palate is vibrant and concentrated but not dense, with a lifted energy, a silken, taut acid line and graphite clarity. Mid-weight but with a sense of weightlessness, minerality is the key here, alongside a charming dustiness of fine, plentiful and firm tannins and a prickling energy. An elegant and endearing wine; one to drink now or hold. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, alongside Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Sourced from a single vineyard in Wilyabrup of dry-grown Houghton clones planted in 1999. The wine was aged for 18 months in a combination of barriques and puncheons, with 30% new oak.
