Closed on the savoury nose, but give it time to open up. Dried raspberries, sundried tomato, a whiff of pastille, pencil shavings and dried Mediterranean herbs. The palate follows through in the savoury spectrum: salt and sun-baked red dirt, dried herbs, red plum, hibiscus flower, gentle spice and smokebush. Tannins are detailed, fine, glossy, polished and complete. A hint of aniseed and tar-like graphite minerality on the finish. This flows, is full of life, gentile excitement and a sense of place. A very different fruit profile from Frankland River Shiraz.
