The name epitomises the fine mineral structure and savoury elegance of wines grown in the Great Southern. Jasmine, lemon curd, lemon drop and pith on the nose. The palate is more fruit-forward and voluminous than the nose would suggest, with a creamy umami finish and a scrap of Vegemite with lashings of melted butter on lightly toasted white bread – a reminder we are in Australia. Polished fruit with a sturdy line of minerality and a fresh and linear expression, this is a nicely balanced, great value wine with good length that pays homage to the fruit from this place. Cool fermentation with natural yeasts in tank and oak, nine months on lees.
