Kosovich releases this wine after five years of bottle ageing and it is a benchmark of its type. The age here is well articulated, with toasted wildflower honey jostling for space with cashew nut, spritzy lemon zest, spice and lime rind. The palate follows through in that citrus spectrum – there’s preserved lemon, beeswax, pithy lime, zippy lime juice, a slight crushed fresh mint note and a wet stone, almost concrete-like minerality. There’s also an engaging green sunflower seed character from lively and polished yet punchy phenolics that punctuate each sip. This is a superbly well-crafted wine from extremely well-grown fruit. There’s no hiding with this classic Swan Valley Chenin Blanc. A braid of savoury finesse, powerful fruit, polished phenolics and measured acid shape. A clean-cut delight full of lustre that continues on the palate long after it’s been consumed.
