Still a baby of a wine, yet filled with confidence. An intense nose, cedary oak is prominent, but the quality of the fruit can hold it. Handfuls of dried herbs: thyme, rosemary and more, alongside blue fruits, blackcurrant jam, satsuma plum, aniseed spice, red liquorice and ironstone earth. Big, bold and solid, with dusty, firm tannins. Tendrils of tobacco leaf smoke up through embers. The tension simmers between juicy fruit and quivering acid. Racy and silvery, standing straight and to attention. An assertive wine. Macerated on skins for two months and aged in new and one-year-old oak barrels. It is named after the area in Cheshire where the ancestors of Larry's wife, Edwina Egerton-Warburton, are from; her family were among the first to settle in Frankland.
