There was below-average rainfall in 2001 but cool conditions in the lead up to harvest produced good depth of flavour. 

Yellow-gold and mature in colour, it's bolder with more substance than the 2005, even a little chewy. It displays notes of yellow peach, dried pear, a burnish of anise and cinnamon oak spice and, going through the palate, calissons, crème pâtissière and intoxicating Casablanca lily notes. Lightly toasted sesame seed riffs mingle on a long, detailed finish. Charismatic.
