Nocturne is the personal project of Julian Langworthy, winemaker at Deep Woods. He works with select parcels of Chardonnay from exceptional sites: in this case Forrest Vineyard in Wilyabrup. Savoury, struck match aromas, with lemon tart. A generous savoury tone on the palate is immediately appealing; lovely tension between elegant creaminess and bright, dancing acidity. Light on its feet, yet with terrific depth of flavour and layers of citrus – grapefruit, lime zest – alongside a driving, chalky mineral line.
