A blend of Zweigelt and the Bordeaux duo, the 2017 Admiral is dark-coloured with a nose of preserved fruits, soy sauce on top of dark cherry fruits. Several times of pomping over per day during and after fermentation, combined with aging in 100% new barriques for 18 months gave the wine an extremely powerful palate, filled with mouth-drying tannins that make it almost impossible to swallow on its own. Dark plum, cassis, cherry fruits and a good level of freshness hide behind the heavy wood, spiced by sweet liquorice. The masculine body means that it can take a few years for the beast to yield pleasure.
