The father and son pairing of Leo Alzinger Snr and Jnr may be less well known than some other producers, but their wines are invariably classic and elegant. The Loibenberg is a hot site, and perhaps not at its very best in years such as 2019. Nonetheless, it has a juicy apple compote nose, and the palate is suave and concentrated, though it does lack a little bite and precision. Yet there's extract and minerality on the long finish. The 2021 is its equal, potentially even better.
