There have been vintages when this wine has been somewhat overblown, with high alcohol and a lack of freshness. However, this is not one of them. The nose is generous, with apple compote and apricot aromas. The attack is nimble, showing fine acidity for Lamm, and a nutty, mineral character. It's concentrated but less heavy than Alte Reben, and displays more precision and clarity. It may not have much punch or drive, but there's no lack of weight, depth and complexity. The finish is mineral and almost chewy, long and dry, with an appealing silkiness.
