Gaisberg, a site with gneiss as well as loess soils, is less renowned than Heiligenstein, but can produce exceptional Rieslings too. The nose is dense and appley, while the palate opens fresh and vibrant, with delightful apple and stone-fruit flavours. Yet it’s also mineral and tangy, and the hint of sweetness is balanced by fine acidity. It’s not overly concentrated, but it’s still robust and long.
