Established on Okanagan’s Black Sage Bench by Richard Cleave in 1996, the Phantom Creek Vineyard is now owned by Vancouver-based Chinese entrepreneur Richter Bai. A generous 20 months in new French oak gives upfront chocolatey and sweet spice aromas atop blackberry and plum. Robustly concentrated, densely layered and lusciously textured, this wraps around the palate drenching the mouth with ripe, sun-soaked fruit. There are no hard edges, and a streak of BC’s lively acidity keeps it afloat.
