Rust Wine Co focuses on single-vineyard bottlings, including three Syrahs from diverse sites in the Similkameen Valley, Golden Mile Bench and Black Sage Bench. This bottling hails from the latter: planted in 2001, the Ferreira Vineyard sits on a mix of volcanic ash and fine granitic sand. The nose is seductive and intriguing, full of olive brine and smoked meat, while polished, velvety tannins hem in the dark fruit palate accented by pepper. There is a graceful flow and sophisticated restraint with red cherry pops on the finish, and the oak is well integrated.
