Tantalus has been a reference for top quality Riesling in British Columbia since its first release, the 2005 vintage. The Old Vines bottling hails from a single 0.8ha block planted in 1978. Made in a decidedly dry style, it offers superb 'surround-sound' intensity and depth of concentrated white grapefruit, lime, chalk and wet stone. With a firm backbone of bracing acidity and a powerful core, it is unwaveringly persistent as mineral and lemon peel echo on the long finish. Still taut, this could do with another year in bottle but will give plenty of lip-smacking pleasure for years to come.
