From a steep west-facing slope on gravelly, sandy soil, this restrained and pretty Syrah is co-fermented with 5% Viognier. Reductive at first, it opens up to reveal white pepper and lilac nuances, before bright juicy currants fill the mouth. There is an underlying stony character as well as tight and subtlety grippy tannins, and the finish shows a hint of sweet coconut from 10 months' ageing in French and American oak, 50% new.
