Winemaker at 13th Street since 2009, French-born JP Colas previously worked at Domaine Laroche in Chablis. This is the second vintage of Essence, his small-batch Riesling, made from the estate’s oldest vines and aged in 500-litre seasoned French oak barrels. Apple and pear aromas are tinged with honey and smoke. On the palate, warm slate meets lemon meringue pie, and a creamy texture is offset by tangy acidity. Long and seamless.
