Butler’s Grant Old Vines on the Twenty Mile Bench are over 40 years old, among the region’s oldest plantings. Somewhat restrained on the nose, with delicate notes of quince, marjoram and apple blossom. The plate shows a fine, creamy texture, wrapped in yellow pear, lavender, and hazelnut, with a streak of salinity, creating layers of complexity. Very good concentration – likely from these old vines – creating depth and a very long, layered finish. The balance of richness and verve make this wine enjoyable now, with excellent potential for further aging.
